About SPECIALX GIFT PRINTING INC
A print house in Sheridan, Wyoming that puts ink on cards — and, when the job calls for it, a chip inside them.
SPECIALX GIFT PRINTING INC manufactures RFID cards, wristbands, tags and custom-printed card products. We produce for two audiences from the same floor: businesses that need credentials, event bands and asset tags built to a specification, and customers of legitphonydl.com who want a card printed for a birthday, a film shoot or a shelf.
That combination is less strange than it sounds. An RFID card is a printed card with a chip laminated inside it. The press, the lamination, the personalisation and the quality check are the same whether the card opens a hotel door or sits in a wallet as a gift. What changes is the electronics, the tolerance, and how much testing the job has to survive before it ships.
Where the work happens
One facility in Sheridan, Wyoming. Printing, lamination, inlay placement, encoding and read-testing sit on the same floor, which is why a change to the chip does not become a change of supplier.
Manufacturing
What we manufacture
Five lines leave this building, all of them printed, and three of them carrying a chip.
RFID cards
PVC, PET and PETG across the three standard frequency bands: low frequency at 125 kHz and 134.2 kHz, high frequency at 13.56 MHz on MIFARE Classic, MIFARE DESFire, NTAG213, NTAG215 and NTAG216, and UHF at 860–960 MHz on Monza and Higgs chips. Offset for volume, digital for short runs and variable data. Magnetic stripe, signature panel, scratch panel, embossing, thermal numbering, barcode and QR are available on the same card.
Wristbands
Silicone, fabric, elastic, vinyl and Tyvek, in closed or adjustable formats, with or without an inlay, printed to your artwork. Event credentials, cashless payment bands, waterpark and resort access, staff identification.
Tags and labels
UHF labels and wet inlays for converters, laundry and linen tags built for repeated industrial washing, anti-metal tags for pallets and equipment, cable ties, key fobs, animal ear tags and injectable transponders, NFC stickers and resin-sealed epoxy tags.
Readers and antennas
Handheld readers in LF, HF and UHF, fixed readers for multi-antenna installations, panel and circular-polarised antennas, multiplexers and the cabling that connects them. We supply readers matched to the tags we print, which removes the guesswork from a first deployment.
Custom printed cards and gifts
The retail line: novelty cards, prop and costume identification cards, badges, gift cards, printed keepsakes and short-run personalised print.
Process
How a card gets made here
Seven stages, and a signature before the next one starts.
Brief and artwork check
We read the file before we quote it: resolution, colour mode, bleed, trim, chip position, and the format of any personalisation data. Problems found here cost nothing to fix.
Digital proof
A PDF proof for print, and a data layout for variable fields, normally within one business day.
Sample approval
On a new design or a large run we produce a physical first article and send it before mass production starts. Nothing is printed in volume against an unapproved sample.
Press and lamination
Offset for volume work, digital for short runs, variable data and one-offs. Cards are collated, laminated and punched to the finished format.
Chip embedding and encoding
Inlay placement to the position agreed in the proof, then read/write encoding of the data with verification against the source file.
Quality control
Three gates: incoming material checked against specification, print inspected in-process for registration, colour and finish, and every batch read-tested before packing.
Packing and dispatch
Counted, packed, labelled and shipped from Sheridan, Wyoming.
Applications
Where our work ends up
- Access control and staff credentials for offices, campuses, gyms and industrial sites.
- Events, festivals and cashless venues, where a wristband has to survive a weekend and a washing machine.
- Hotels and hospitality: room keys, spa bands, guest cards.
- Industrial laundry and linen tracking, where a tag is expected to outlast the garment.
- Livestock, equine and pet identification, including ICAR-format transponders.
- Retail, logistics and asset management, on pallets, trays, tools and returnable containers.
- Film, television, theatre and photography productions needing prop credentials that read correctly on camera.
- Gifts, keepsakes and personal projects — the single card, printed properly.
Partners
Who we work with
- OEM and ODM partners who need a card, band or tag built to their specification and shipped under their own brand.
- Distributors and resellers who need consistent stock and a supplier who answers.
- Event and venue operators running ticketing, access or cashless payment.
- Hospitality groups replacing mechanical keys with cards.
- System integrators who need credentials encoded to an existing database format.
- Production companies and photographers who need prop documents that look right on camera.
- Individuals ordering a single card, printed and shipped.
Quality
A sequence, not a department.
Material is checked before it enters production, print is inspected while the press is running, and finished goods are read-tested before they are packed.
A card that does not respond to the reader does not leave the building.
The process has been running since 1991. It has been rewritten for every chip generation since — from 125 kHz proximity cards through MIFARE to UHF inlays read at range — and the three gates described above are what survived every rewrite. Thirty-five years of doing one thing has a side effect: the process stops being a document and becomes a habit.
On any new design we confirm a physical sample before mass production, and we run the job more than once before we treat the settings as final. Where a program needs documentation — chip datasheets, material declarations, read-range test reports, encoding logs — we supply it with the order rather than on request afterwards.

Talk to us
Send the specification, the artwork or just the problem you are trying to solve. Include the quantity, the frequency band if you know it, and the date you need the goods in hand; that is enough for us to quote and to tell you honestly whether the deadline is realistic.
