Products and personalisation8
What do you actually print?
Novelty cards, prop and costume identification cards, badges, gift cards and printed keepsakes — single units or short runs, printed to your artwork. The same facility also produces RFID cards, wristbands and tags for business customers, which is covered further down this page.
Are these real ID cards?
No. Everything sold through legitphonydl.com is a novelty printed product. It is not issued by any government or authority, it carries no legal effect, and it cannot be used for age verification, entry, credit, employment or identification. It is a printed card, and it is sold as one.
What file should I send?
A print-ready PDF (PDF/X-1a if you have it), or a PNG or TIFF at 300 dpi or better, in CMYK, with 3 mm of bleed and all fonts outlined. We check every file before it goes to press and tell you if something will print badly — that check is free, and it is the cheapest moment to fix a problem.
Can I use a photo I found online?
Only if you hold the rights to it. By sending us a file you confirm that you own it or have permission to reproduce it, and you take responsibility for any claim that follows. If you are unsure, send us something you own or a stock image you have licensed.
Will the printed colour match my screen?
Not exactly. Screens are backlit and use RGB; print uses CMYK ink on a substrate, and a small shift in saturation and brightness is normal and not a defect. If a colour has to be precise — a brand colour, a logo — say so when you order and we will match to a Pantone reference instead of a screen value.
Can I order just one card?
Yes. There is no minimum on the retail line. One card, printed, proofed and shipped is a normal order here, and it goes through the same press and the same quality check as a run of a thousand.
How long does a proof take?
One business day for standard jobs, and usually the same day if the file arrives before noon Eastern. The proof is a PDF showing the finished layout, trim and colour; nothing is printed in volume until you approve it in writing.
Can you print on both sides?
Yes, single or double sided. If the card is going to be held up to a light, tell us, and we will add an opaque core so the reverse does not show through.
Ordering and payment6
How do I place an order?
Choose the product, upload the artwork or describe what you want printed, and check out. You will get an order confirmation immediately and a proof within one business day. The contract is formed when we confirm that production has been accepted, or when we dispatch, whichever comes first.
Which payment methods do you accept?
The methods shown at checkout, which include major credit and debit cards and third-party payment services. Payment is taken when the order is placed, not at dispatch.
Is my card data safe?
Card details are entered on the payment provider’s secure page. We never receive or store your full card number or security code — only the method, the last four digits and the result of the transaction.
Can I change or cancel an order after placing it?
Yes, at no cost, as long as production has not started and the proof has not been approved. Write to [email protected] with your order number; the change takes effect when we confirm it by email. Once the press is running, the order cannot be cancelled, because the card is being made to your specification.
Do you charge sales tax?
Where we are required to collect it, based on the delivery address, and it is shown at checkout before you pay. Import duties and customs charges on international orders are separate and are the recipient’s responsibility.
Do you offer wholesale or trade pricing?
Yes, for volume work and for business programs. Write to [email protected] with the format, the quantity, the chip if there is one, and the date you need the goods; you will get a quote rather than a price list.
Shipping and delivery6
How long before my order is dispatched?
One to two business days for ready-to-ship cards, two to four for customised single cards and badges, four to seven for bulk and multi-design orders. Rush production in 24 hours is available on request, subject to capacity. These are production times; transit starts after dispatch.
Where do you ship, and how long does it take?
Worldwide, from Sheridan, Wyoming. Within the United States: 3–7 business days standard, 2–3 express, 1 business day overnight. Canada 5–10 business days; Europe and the UK 6–12; the rest of the world 8–20. Transit windows exclude customs clearance.
Can I track my parcel?
Yes. A tracking number is emailed when the parcel is dispatched, usually within one business day of handover. Tracking can take up to 24 hours to appear in the carrier’s system.
Do you ship to PO boxes or military addresses?
PO boxes are fine for standard services. Express and overnight services need a street address. APO and FPO addresses are accepted with standard service; transit times to them are longer than the published window and cannot be guaranteed.
Will I have to pay customs or import tax?
Possibly, if you are outside the United States. Duties, VAT and handling fees are set by your country, are not collected by us, and are not included in the price at checkout. We declare the commercial value accurately and cannot mark an order as a gift.
My tracking has not moved in a week.
Write to [email protected] with the order number and we will open a trace with the carrier. If the parcel is confirmed lost — twenty business days without movement domestically, forty internationally — we reprint and reship at our cost, or refund you in full if you prefer.
Returns, refunds and reprints6
My card arrived damaged.
Send photographs of the packaging, the shipping label and the damaged item to [email protected] within 48 hours of delivery. Do not post it back before writing to us — we need the photographs to authorise the return and to claim against the carrier. We reprint at our cost, or refund in full including shipping, at your choice.
Can I return a personalised card?
Not once the proof has been approved, unless it is defective or different from the approved proof. That is not an arbitrary rule: a card with your name and photograph on it cannot be resold to anyone else, so the approval step exists to make sure it is right before we print it.
What if I simply changed my mind?
You have fourteen calendar days from delivery to return an unused item in its original packaging, with return postage paid by you. The refund covers the value of the goods, not the original shipping charge. Personalised items are excluded, as above.
The card does not match the proof I approved.
Then it is our error and we fix it. Send the proof reference and photographs to [email protected] within 48 hours of delivery; we reprint and reship at our cost.
How long does a refund take?
Five to ten business days from approval, back to the original payment method. How quickly it appears on your statement depends on your bank or card issuer. If the original method cannot receive a refund, we contact you to agree an alternative.
Do you reprint for free?
Yes, for defects, transit damage and anything that does not match the approved proof. No, for errors that were present in the proof you approved — those are reprinted at the standard rate, which is why we ask you to read the proof twice.
RFID and business orders7
Do you make RFID products for businesses?
Yes. That is the core of what SPECIALX GIFT PRINTING INC has done since 1991: RFID cards, wristbands, tags, inlays and readers, produced to specification, under your brand or ours, with encoding and quality documentation.
Which chips and frequencies can you supply?
Low frequency at 125 kHz and 134.2 kHz, high frequency at 13.56 MHz on MIFARE Classic, MIFARE DESFire, NTAG213, NTAG215 and NTAG216, and UHF at 860–960 MHz on Monza and Higgs. If a program needs a specific chip or a dual-frequency format, send the part number and we confirm availability before you commit.
What is the minimum order for RFID work?
It depends on the format and the chip, so we do not publish a single number. Send the specification — format, chip, quantity, data format, deadline — and the minimum comes back with the quote, stated plainly.
Can you encode the cards to my database format?
Yes. We encode from a CSV, TXT or Excel data map, or from a database export you provide. Send one sample record with the order and we will match your field structure before production.
Can you supply readers that work with your tags?
Yes. We supply handheld and fixed readers in LF, HF and UHF, antennas, multiplexers and cabling, matched to the tags we print. Buying both from one supplier removes the most common cause of a failed first deployment: a reader and a tag that were never tested against each other.
Do you send samples before mass production?
On any new design or large run, yes. We produce a physical first article, send it, and wait for your approval. Nothing is printed in volume against an unapproved sample.
Can you print our logo and brand on the product?
Yes, on cards, wristbands and packaging, under your brand. OEM and private-label production is routine here, and nothing carries our name unless you ask for it.
Account, privacy and other questions6
Do I need an account to order?
No. You can check out as a guest. An account saves your addresses, keeps your order history and makes a reorder one click, but it is optional.
How old do I have to be?
Eighteen to place an order, sixteen to browse or subscribe. The store is intended for adults and we do not knowingly collect data from children.
What do you do with my personal data?
We use it to produce, invoice and deliver your order, to answer you, and — only with your consent — to send you offers. We do not sell it. The full detail, including retention periods and how to exercise your rights, is in our Privacy Policy.
Where are you based?
SPECIALX GIFT PRINTING INC has been manufacturing in Sheridan, Wyoming since 1991, with 57 people across production, print, encoding and support. The registered office is 30 N Gould St Ste R, Sheridan, WY 82801, United States.
I have a question that is not here.
Write to [email protected] with your order number if you have one. A person answers, normally within one business day.
Still stuck?
Write to [email protected] with your order number and a description of the problem. If the question is about a business or RFID program, include the format, the quantity and the date you need the goods in hand — that is enough for us to answer with a real figure rather than a range.
Not answered here?
Write with the order number if you have one, or with the format, quantity and deadline if you are asking for a quote. A person replies, normally within one business day.
